In our laboratory, we study Metallic Glass which attracted attention as a new material infrastructure. We mainly study its fundamental research, and develop new alloys and composite materials. Metallic Glass is frozen amorphous alloy by slow cooling or quenching super-cooled liquid state. Due to the structural features that there is no long-range regularity, Metallic Glass shows the lower Young's modulus and higher strength (flexible and strong) compared to its crystalline alloy, is advantageous for corrosion resistance because there is no grain boundaries as a starting point for corrosion, and also, ferromagnetic metal-based alloys is excellent at soft magnetic properties for no crystal magnetic anisotropy. More than anything, super-cooled liquid state is re-emergence from about 60% of the melting point, below the glass transition temperature during heating, Despite Metallic Glass is an alloy, it is as large as "glasswork" or "plastic molding," and delicate and precise molding is able to be gain by performing low processing, which are the biggest attraction that cannot be seen in crystalline alloy. |
